Archdiocese of Nairobi Zone D Sports Day
Zone D sports were held at St. Benedicts Catholic Church Ruaraka. The youth arrived ready to show their skills on the pitch, indeed it was the Zone D sports day that was held on 6 th July 2019.
As participants streamed in, officials concerned did the registration of the Parishes which was later followed by Mass. Zone D has a total of four deaneries namely; Outering, Ruaraka, Makadara and Eastern deanery.
Mass was conducted by Fr. Augustine Kihoro who is the youth chaplain for Ruaraka deanery. His main teaching was coherence among the youths and bringing together of youths through sports.
Soon after Mass, the program spilled out into the main agenda which was sports. All participants converged in the field as supporters cheered their teams to victory.
The competition was at its peak with every team trying to show dominance in the various sports.
The climax was the 4 x 100 meters relay for both boys and girls. It was a race worth watching. This is because among all events it was the most cheered and was the ultimate track event. The day’s events came to an end at around 6.30 pm.
Everybody left the venue expectant of a more exciting day during the archdiocesan level to be held at Lenana School on 17 th of August 2019.
