It was pomp and colour at St. Peter The Rock-Church Ground on Sunday 15th March 2020, as Catholic faithful celebrated their Parish Family Day that was held at the church grounds near Tuskys Chania Supermarket.
The close to three-hour long mass was led by the main celebrant His Eminence John Cardinal Njue assisted by Father In-Charge Rev. Fr. Anslem Kamuyu among other priests. While delivering his homily, the Cardinal urged the congregation to strive at serving God at all times by ensuring that they invest their time within their families by praying and sharing the word of God especially during this Lenten Season.
“This is the time for families to come together to connect and spend time with each other, If we want to grow as a Parish and individual levels we need to invest in our spiritual growth, let us shun negative vices that will pull us down and lead us away from God’s will,” said Cardinal Njue.
Key among the activities that took place were administration of the sacrament of Confirmation to 223 Catechumens and the Launch of the Word of God Campaign. The celebration was attended by thousands of jubilant Christians from the 6 Outstations within the Parish. The six Outstations represented were; St. Peter The Rock, St. Hellena-Rurii, St Francis of Asisi-Athena, St. Stephen-Nyacaba, Holy Rosary-Wietithie and St. Patrick’s Thika.
