The Archdiocesan PMC Animators during their Annual Mass held at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, Kiambu have been asked not to be static but to embrace the spirit of the synod by being open to listen, discern and reflect on the ways of the Church so the children can grow holistically.
The event which started with a motivational talk by Fr. Joseph Kariuki, saw the animators inducted into the ongoing Synod convoked by Pope Francis. In the spirit of Synodality, Fr Joseph called on the Animators to heed to the call of Pope Francis in their work with the children in the Synodal Journey of communion, participation and Mission of the Church.
He said, “Be open to listen and be challenged by others and the word of God in the work you do. Openness enables you to be in communion with Christ and hence able to learn what God wants of you, but this can only happen when you discern.”
The Eucharistic celebration presided by His Grace, Archbishop Philip Anyolo the Archbishop of Nairobi was filled with jubilation and dance from the animators representing the 114 parishes.
Fr. Moses Kago the PMS Director expressed his gratitude to the animators for their work. Reiterating the Archbishops message during the Homily he noted the importance of children in the society terming them as blessings hence reminding them to impact the children with good values for a better future.
His Grace called on the animators to inculcate good values in the children to enable them grow in the right direction. “As young as they are, they are the beginning of the Church, impact them in the right direction through the gifts of the Holy Spirit bestowed upon you.”
He further called on all Christians to create a safe environment that protects, cares and teaches children to grow in love as a reflection of God’s image. Reflecting on the upcoming elections, the animators were implored to be agents of peace.
