The Archdiocese of Nairobi has two new priests: Fr. Joseph Michuki and Fr. Boniface Mburu. The two were ordained at the Holy Family Minor Basilica in a jubilant Eucharistic Celebration led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo and concelebrated by the retired Archbishop John Cardinal Njue and the Auxiliary Bishop David Kamau and scores of priests.
In the homily, Bishop David Kamau said that the newly ordained are consecrated “to preach the Gospel, to shepherd God’s people, and to celebrate the sacred Liturgy, especially the Lord’s sacrifice. It is the response to the call of God that makes the Church grow hence without the response then the call becomes incomplete.”
He further urged christians to help the priests to live according to their call by praying for them as the priests pray for christians in the various vocations each is called to.
Fr. Paul Ngoe the Vocations Director urged christians to strengthen faith in their homes as a way of supporting Vocations to priesthood terming homes as the base in which priests are groomed to have good morals to serve the Church. Currently there are 239 priests who have been ordained in the Archdiocese.
The event was graced by christians from far and wide in the Archdiocese and especially from Mangu and Kiganjo parish who filled the three thousand seat Basilica to witness the ordination of their sons.
The Archbishop Philip Anyolo encouraged them to strive in bringing the faithful together into one family, “so that you may lead them to God the Father through Christ in the Holy Spirit.”
Fr. Joseph Michuki was appointed to work as the assistant parish priest at Our Lady of the Rosary parish, Ridgeways. Fr. Boniface Mburu was appointed at Our Lady Consolata parish, Kahawa farmers ; This is a newly declared parish by the Archbishop during that very Mass by Archbishop Anyolo.
