The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, His Lordship David Kamau has urged Christians not to run away from the current issues facing humanity rather, to take the period of lent to fast, pray and give alms for the situation to get better.
Speaking during the celebration of Ash Wednesday Mass held at the Holy Family Minor Basilica, His Lordship reflected on the current crisis facing the world and the society at large noting, “we have people killing each other, countries at war like Russia and Ukraine, family issues and some personal struggles, we cannot run away from these crisis but can only overcome them through prayer, fasting and alms giving.”
This celebration attended by thousands of Christians at the Holy Family Minor Basilica in the numerous Masses that day, saw Christians marked with the sign of the cross made from Ash on their foreheads which is a symbol of penance and a reminder of the dust from which God made human beings.
