The New Archbishop of Nairobi, Archbishop Philip Anyolo has celebrated his first Sacrament of Confirmation at Christ the King Parish, Githurai Kimbo since his installation as the shepherd of the Archdiocese on 20th November 2021. About 572 catechumens were conferred during this special occasion which also marked as a first celebration of its kind for the parish since the inception of Covid-19 in the country.
The homily, colorful to the awe of many, saw the prelate’s social nature revealed during the cross- examination of the candidates and the Christians of Christ the King seeking their knowledge of the bible. Their prowess was unmatched.
To the catechumens he said, “your confirmation in the sacraments of the church, makes the church stronger, your shepherd stronger and even the families. Stronger in faith and for that I am proud of you. You are welcomed in the church, serve God faithfully by denying all the rots that prevent you from seeing Gods face.”
He further lauded those encompassed in bringing the children closer to the face of Christ to reflect His love and goodness.
“God enables us to be good people as Christians through the life we live. The sacraments are our way of life and by upholding them, goodness in people is brought out and the image of God is reflected. His love and his kindness” he said.
Fr. James Kinuthia who is the Fr. In-charge congratulated the candidates and assured the archbishop that they were ready to be confirmed in the church. He also encouraged them to follow the sacraments of the church terming them as the way to seek the kingdom of God.
