Palm Sunday Mass at Mt. Laverna Grounds, Kasarani
This year’s Palm Sunday Mass was like none other. It had been two years since the church observed the feast, and it was God’s grace that the pandemic was no longer going to stop us from entering with Jesus into Jerusalem.
The previous week, the parish had been running a seminar facilitated by Ms. Charity Mwontune, a lay evangelist with a brimming passion for Christ. The series, which was dubbed “Kutembea na Kristu“, would now end on the Palm Sunday Mass. Many people came such that the tents wouldn’t contain them, but the day was hardly uninterrupted, showing a particular commitment by the parishioners.
It started well with the blessing of the palms by the parish priest, Fr. Murira, and then a series of readings that reminded us of God’s love and the sacrifice that Jesus made for us to be reconnected with the father.
After the priestly homily, Fr. Murira welcomed Ms. Montune, who gave a detailed rundown of what the seminar was about. She then led the congregants in dedicating their first-born children and presenting their first fruits and salaries.
The Mass then continued swiftly and ended well at around 1.00 PM.
