ARCHBISHOP PHILIP ANYOLO LEADS CHRISM MASS CELEBRATIONS
The Archdiocese of Nairobi has joined Catholics in the entire world in celebrating the Chrism Mass at the Holy Family Minor Basilica led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo the Archbishop of Nairobi Archdiocese.
Unlike the past two years that saw the number of participants of this solemn Mass limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the Minor Basilica was filled to capacity by slightly over 250 priests, religious men and women and the laity.
While delivering the homily, Archbishop Philip Anyolo urged the clergy, to continue serving Christians with greater generosity and with a spirit of sacrifice. He said, “Our priesthood has many challenges and just like the life of Judas was met with a challenge of worldliness, it is a reminder for us to stay awake and pray so as to fight temptations in the world. Make progress in the life of virtue and holiness so that our apostolate is of good example modeled by the life of Jesus Christ.”
Christians were called to reflect on the humble life of Christ and refrain from engaging in pursuits that cause them to sin. This he said alluding to the electioneering period cautioning Christians in their participation in hate speech but rather exhorting them to choose leaders who guide the country to God and for the common good of all.
