A NEW OFFICE IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NAIROBI SECRETARIAT
The Archbishop of Nairobi, His Grace Philip Anyolo, has opened a new office. The office for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (ICL/SAL) will be based at the Cardinal Otunga Plaza 8th floor and 7th floor.
The fundamental functions of the office will be to assists all forms of consecrated life and their members as well as new forms, which have pontifical approval present in the Archdiocese of Nairobi in all matters of ecclesial relevance related to their existence in this Archdiocese. This office was formally established on 16th January 2023.
Members of this office include all forms of consecrated life as found in the Code of Canon Law and reside within the Archdiocese of Nairobi; they include:
1. Religious Institutes
2. Secular Institutes
3. Societies of Apostolic Life
4. Public Associations
5. Eremitic Life
6. Consecrated Virgins and Widows
This office will strive to carry out the church’s pastoral concerns of the consecrated men and women in the archdiocese as well as work with them to achieve the goals set forth in the mission statement of the archdiocese.
At present, the administration of the office is performed by the officials appointed by the Local Ordinary, with the Local Ordinary as the Chairperson. They consist of:
1. Rev. Dr. John Martin Owor (Vicar for ICL/SAL)
2. Rev. Fr. Peter Maingi (Adjunct Vicar for ICL/SAL)
3. Sr. Dr. Bibiana Mwawuri (Administrative Assistant)
4. Sr. Maureen Ojil (Associate Administrative Assistant)
We thank God for this new office and ask for prayers and support from the clergy, all members of consecrated life, and the laity of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, so that through this office God may lavish His blessing on us all.
