“SERVE WITH GLADNESS,” PRISONS RECRUITS URGED.
Archbishop Philip Anyolo has urged eighty-five confirmed recruits to be zealous in their service and carry out their duties with zeal and gladness. This he said during the confirmation Mass held at Ruiru Prisons Staff Training Campus in Kiambu County.
Among those present were, the prisons National Chaplain, Fr. Peter Kimani, the Deputy Commissioner general of prisons, Madam Florence Omundi EBS, ACGP Angus Masoro ndc(K) who is the commandant of the prisons Staff Training College among others.
In his Homily, his Grace Philip Anyolo called on the recruits, “Be attentive in what you are taught, for it will guide you in your service to all. Your service as hard as it maybe, remember to have gratitude to God for all that He does in your life and rejoice in Him always. This will open your doors of favor.”
Ruiru prisons is one amongst the prisons chaplaincies in the archdiocese. It has about 4018 trainees at the base with about 600 staff members. The chaplaincy has a population of about 800 Christians.
While addressing the recruits during the Mass celebration, the deputy commissioner general of prisons, Madam Florence Omundi EBS reiterated Archbishop Anyolo’s message saying, “You have been commissioned, to go and serve humanity. You responded to that call by accepting the sacrament to be soldiers. Be ready to die for others for the tools given to you as gifts, may they produce fruits through creating and transforming a new world. Tighten your belts soldiers!”
