THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NAIROBI CELEBRATES THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC EDUCATION DAY
The Archdiocese of Nairobi hosted its 26th annual Catholic Education Day at St. Joseph High School Githunguri. The occasion brought thousands of pupils and students from various primary and secondary Catholic-sponsored schools, both public and private schools.
Various students and pupils presented entertainment pieces that warmed the cold day. The occasion was graced by various guests. Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education was represented by the Central regional director of education, Ms. Sabina Aroni, as the chief guest. Addressing both the students and teachers from various schools, she emphasized the need to share responsibilities for the students’ success. She also launched a policy document for orientation in Catholic Learning Institutions.
Several schools were awarded for their outstanding performances in the various participations by the education office. Notably, Mang’u high school emerged as the leading one among secondary schools, while Holy Innocents Tassia catholic school led the primary schools, earning them well-deserved trophies for their exceptional contributions. Individual students who made significant impacts were also honored for their outstanding efforts.
The occasion ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo. He called upon the students to remain united through prayers, sacraments and the teachings of the word of God. He left them with a powerful takeaway message, Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me.”
