PRIESTS VISIT INMATES AT THE KAMITI MAXIMUM PRISON
Priests of the Archdiocese of Nairobi gathered together for their annual charity event at Kamiti Maximum Prison in Kahawa West to celebrate their annual charity day. Led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo, the priests went to visit the inmates of the prison and offer their support to them.
In his message, Archbishop Philip Anyolo who had accompanied the scores of priests who took material and financial help, urged the inmates to keep the faith even in their current situation. He reminded them that they are not alone and that God is with them always. The Archbishop encouraged the inmates to use this opportunity to reflect on their lives and seek spiritual guidance from the Lord.
During the celebration of Holy Mass, Fr. Peter Kaigua, the homilist, spoke about the importance of caring for both the physical and spiritual needs of the inmates. He emphasized that the priests did not come to Kamiti for just the physical needs of the inmates but also for their spiritual needs.
After the Mass, the Archbishop and the priests were taken on a tour of the prison. They were shown the various activities that the inmates are involved in, such as farming, and carpentry. The Archbishop praised the efforts of the inmates and encouraged them to continue working hard and developing their skills.
The National Prisons Chaplain, Fr. Peter Kimani noted that the event was a reminder that as Christians, we are called to serve others and help those in need, regardless of their circumstances.
