EMPOWERING TEACHERS FOR A GREATER CALLING
Teachers from numerous Catholic-sponsored schools within the Archdiocese of Nairobi converged at the Thika Pastoral Centre for the graduation ceremony of the Religious Education Awareness Programme (REAP), a specialized program offered by the Education Office. Under the theme, “Real, enabling, teachers to know, to love, and to Serve,” these dedicated teachers, many of whom specialize in Christian Religious Education, were ready to embark on a new chapter in their careers, armed with valuable insights and skills gained from the REAP program.
The day started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist led by Fr. Francis Kiarie, the Archdiocesan Education Secretary. In his homily, he emphasized the profound calling that teachers have to serve and nurture children. Fr. Kiarie passionately encouraged them to align their actions with righteousness, emphasizing that their role extends far beyond certificates and that the wisdom they’ve gained should be used to make a thoughtful and positive impact in the lives of the children they serve and within society at large.
The graduands were later commissioned and handed their certificates, officially marking their transition into champions of religious awareness in respective institutions. The event marked a significant step for these educators, who are now equipped with knowledge, purpose, and a commitment to shaping young minds with dedication and love.
