ST. FRANCIS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OPENS NEW CANCER AND PALLIATIVE CARE CENTER
St. Francis Community Hospital marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its Cancer and Palliative Care Center and the refurbished Outpatient Department (OPD) block. The event began with a celebratory Mass led by Bishop Rodrigo, who delivered an inspiring homily emphasizing the Church’s mission of healing and restoration of human dignity.
Reflecting on the legacy of St. Francis of Assisi, Bishop Rodrigo highlighted his compassion for the sick, particularly those suffering from leprosy in biblical times. “Health is a gift from God,” he said. “Francis recognized the dignity of the human being, even in sickness, and respected the value of every life. May this hospital continue to inspire society through its ministry of help and healing.”
The Bishop called on the community to let St. Francis’ legacy of care and restoration motivate the hospital’s mission. “May the memory of St. Francis not be merely an external manifestation but a true inspiration for the Church’s mission of healing and restoring human dignity,” he added.
The event coincided with the 800th anniversary of St. Francis receiving the stigmata, a reminder of his deep commitment to service. The hospital’s motto, “We treat, God heals,” underscores its dedication to addressing the physical and spiritual needs of all who seek care.
The Cancer and Palliative Care Center is expected to transform healthcare delivery at St. Francis Community Hospital, offering specialized services to meet the needs of patients and their families.
