“EMBRACE YOUR FAITH AND BE GOOD DISCIPLES,” YOUTH SERVING CHRIST IMPLORED
The Bishop-elect of Embu Diocese, Monsignor Peter Kimani, encouraged the youth of the Archdiocese of Nairobi to live out their Catholic faith during the annual Youth Serving Christ (YSC) Mass at Queen of Apostles Church in Ruaraka. He emphasized that embracing their faith would lead to spiritual renewal and provide guidance in navigating life’s challenges.
Acknowledging the complexities of contemporary culture, Monsignor Kimani urged the youth to draw strength from their faith and to strive to be good disciples of Christ. “You are set apart to be youths of this time, strengthened in faith even in this new culture. Embrace your faith and be encouraged to be good disciples in Christ,” he said.
He also underscored the importance of wisdom in decision-making and the ability to discern what is right. “Be open to listening and discernment. We need the spirit of wisdom to choose what is right. May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, for the heart sees and feels, and it can differentiate between good and bad,” he advised.
The event brought together youth from across the 16 deaneries of the Archdiocese to celebrate and thank God for the year. During the Mass, the Archdiocesan Office, under the guidance of chaplains Fr. Victor Mbuthia and Fr. Dominic Mwangi, launched the YSC guidebook. This manual will serve as a resource for the spiritual formation of young people in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
