BEACON BOYS PROGRAM: FORMING MEN OF INTEGRITY THROUGH FAITH AND GUIDANCE
Boys from 67 parishes across the Archdiocese of Nairobi gathered at the St. Mary’s Msongari grounds for a seminar organized by Caritas Nairobi. The event, part of the Beacon Boys Program, aimed to address the challenges faced by the boy child in the Church, families, and society. Through mentorship, education, and spiritual guidance, the program seeks to nurture boys into responsible men of integrity, rooted in faith, morality, and positive behaviour.
The seminar culminated in the celebration of the Eucharist, featuring a keynote address by Dr. Susan, who inspired the boys to embrace education, responsibility, and integrity as tools for their personal growth and contribution to society. The seminar highlighted the importance of goal-setting, hard work, and faith, encouraging the boys to value education as both a gift and a responsibility.
During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Simon Peter Ndungu urged the boys to be strong, responsible, and filled with faith by actively participating in confession, reading the Bible, and listening attentively to God’s word. “Embrace your Catholic identity by sharing your faith with others, and remain strong in the Lord, for in God, you get everything. Do not seek alternatives elsewhere,” he said. He further called on them to live with integrity, work hard, and pursue their goals with determination, reminding them that wisdom and attentiveness to God’s teachings are key to building their faith.
Fr. Peter Kiarie, the Director of Caritas Nairobi emphasized that the Beacon Boys Program was created to address the unique challenges faced by the boy child and to prepare them for the future. “Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Njue saw the need for CMA to come together to mentor boys into becoming men of integrity,” he shared. The program targets boys in the Church, particularly those facing various challenges, accompanying them on their journey to becoming transformative figures in society. With a mission rooted in morality, positive behaviour change, and faith, the Beacon Boys Program is shaping the future by forming boys into men who will positively impact the Church and the world.
