FR. ANTHONY NG’ANG’A GACHAU PASSES ON
The Archdiocese of Nairobi has lost one of its priests, Fr. Anthony Ng’ang’a Gachau, who passed away on 24th January 2025. Fr. Gachau, born on 4th April 1962, in Ngenya Parish, was ordained on May 29, 1993, by the Servant of God, Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga.
During his 32years of priestly service, he served in the following parishes: St. Matthias Mulumba parish, Thika, Ss. Peter and Paul parish, Kiambu, Our Lady of the Rosary parish, Ruku, St. Patrick’s parish, Thika, Our lady of the Annunciation parish, Gatitu, St. John Parish, Mang’u and Immaculate Conception parish, Gicharani. From September 2024 until his demise, he was undertaking his sabbatical and renewal at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa AMECEA(Gaba), Eldoret.
The late Fr. Gachau was laid to rest on 31st January 2025, at the Clergy Cemetery at St. Mary’s Msongari. He was eulogized as a great priest, simple and pastoral oriented. The funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Msongari was led by His Grace, Archbishop Philip Anyolo and concelebrated by the Auxiliary, Rt. Rev. David Kamau, His Lordship, Wallace Ng’ang’a the Bishop, Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Bishop James Maria Wainaina of the Catholic Diocese of Muranga, Bishop Paul Kariuki of Wote diocese, the Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi John Cardinal Njue and hundreds of priests. The funeral was well attended by many religious men and women and thousands of mourners across the country.
Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen
