Youth Sports (Zone C)
Zone C youth gathered at St. Andrew Rironi Parish on 26 th July for sports. The zone comprises of 26 Parishes drawn from Limuru Deanery, Githunguri Deanery and Kiambu Deanery.
The theme of the day was Evangelization through Talents. The youth were urged amongst other things to glorify God through their talents.
The event began at 8.00 a.m with the registration of participating Parishes followed by Mass at 9.00am. All present were welcomed to St. Andrew Catholic Parish and Limuru Deanery by Sam Chema, Teacher of Faith from St. Andrew Catholic Parish, Rironi. The Mass was presided over by Fr. Cosmas, Limuru Deanery Youth Chaplain as the main celebrant and Fr. Dominic, Githunguri Deanery Youth Chaplain and Fr. Paul Njuguna, Kiambu Deanery Youth Chaplain as the co-celebrants.
The sports competitions were held at Rironi Primary School and comprised of both track and in-door events. Track events included 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m, 4*100m relay and 4*400m relay for both Male and Female teams. The in-door games included Chess, Darts, Badminton and Table Tennis. To compete in any event, each youth member was expected to possess and present his or her Archdiocese of Nairobi Youth Registration Card.
The deanery youth sports competitions are a build-up to the Archdiocese of Nairobi Youth Sports Competitions to be held at Lenana High School on Saturday, 17 August 2019.
