ARCHDIOCESE OF NAIROBI MARKS WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY 2021
Equity Bank through the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC) has donated over 7,000 trees as the Archdiocese marked the World Environmental Day 2021.
The event that was attended by parish CJPC representatives from the Archdiocese was held at the Holy Family Utawala parish. The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist led by the CJPC Archdiocesan Coordinator, Fr. Emmanuel Ngugi among other priests.
In the homily, Fr. Ngugi encouraged the leaders to respect what God has created and take care of Mother Earth to their best ability. “We are the light of the World, let us make this place better than we found it for our future generations”, he said.
Equity group has been donating tree seedlings through their tree planting and maintenance campaign for the nationwide cause to conserve the environment. Other stakeholders among them the Kenya Forest Services, Nairobi Metropolitan Services and the Kenya National Human Rights Commission also promised to donate more tree seedlings to be distributed in the parishes for planting.
The CJPC members were challenged to sensitize the Christians in their parishes to plant more trees and help take care of mother earth.
