Christians of the Archdiocese of Nairobi have been urged to practice on who they would like to become as they make a pilgrim to God during this Lenten season. This was said by Archbishop Philip Anyolo during the launch of the 2022 Archdiocesan Lenten Campaign held at St Matia Mulumba parish, Thika.
The colorful campaign commenced with a 5km walk along Garissa Road in Thika by slightly over 300 Christians, with them Archbishop Philip Anyolo and several priests. The walk symbolizes a Church in pilgrim to God.
While giving the Homily, Archbishop Anyolo said, “make a movement that brings you closer to God. This can only be done when you love one another, praying for one another, forgiving and giving what we have to those without.”
The Catholic Justice and Peace Department (CJPD) coordinator Fr. Emmanuel Ngugi touching on the upcoming elections, asked Christians not to be divided by politics rather to exercise their civil rights as they remain agents of peace and assist in peace building.
This year’s lent season is timely with the upcoming elections in August 2022. Christians have been called to reflect around their civic responsibility, respect for the rule of law by all, the intractable human trafficking in the country, the drought in the country causing an alarm on food security and the participation of the youths in peaceful elections.
