The Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Archdiocese of Nairobi have for the first time in two years met in thousands of numbers during the celebrations of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, held at the University of Nairobi (U.O.N) graduation square.
Speaking to the over ten thousand women present from across the 14 deaneries in the Archdiocese, Archbishop Philip Anyolo exhorted them to think, talk and act right in what they do so as to be wholesome in their call as women in the Church. He further reminded them, “do not look down on yourselves but up on God for in your little ways, you bring joy to the world and God sees it.”
Fr. Jude Waweru, the Archdiocesan CWA chaplain expressed his joy in seeing the women’s turnout since their last event in 2019. He urged the women to strive to increase their faith through prayers and in supporting one another for the posterity of their group. He noted their resilience in staying active even with the disruption of their events since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic.
During the event, 2257 women were received in the CWA Archdiocesan level. Mrs Agnes Michuki the CWA Archdiocesan moderator lauded the women’s spirit in their active participation in the group’s activities in the parishes even with the ongoing disruption caused by the pandemic.
The group is organizing a harambee on 9th July 2022 to build St. Augustine Boys School Mang’u (SAMS) dormitories owing to the increasing numbers of students. The boy’s school was started on 15th January 2018 by the Association as their way of evangelization to the community through spiritual, moral, social and economic empowerment. The project is meant to nurture future leaders through education.
