EMBRACE THE PRAYERFUL JOURNEY LIKE ST. MONICA, CWA URGED DURING THE FEAST OF ST. MONICA
The Catholic Women’s Association (CWA) congregated at the St. Mary’s Msongari grounds to celebrate the feast of St. Monica, their matron saint. The over 20,000 dedicated members, both new and existing, who came together to honor St. Monica’s journey and legacy.
Mass was led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo, while Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Njue and a multitude of priests as concelebrants.
In an inspiring homily, Fr. Jude Waweru, the Archdiocesan CWA chaplain, called upon the attendees to emulate the prayerful spirit of St. Monica and to steadfastly hold onto their faith, even in the face of adversity. Under the theme, “Emulating St. Monica as custodian of mental health,” he underscored the importance of prayer as a protective shield against succumbing to life’s temptations, resonating with the timeless wisdom of their revered matron.
The event saw the commissioning of the new CWA executive leaders, who are expected to guide the association forward with their commitment and dedication. More than 2,000 new members were also commissioned, setting forth on a shared journey of faith and service. In a message to the newly commissioned members, the Archbishop called upon them to walk in faith, with their hearts ever accommodating God’s presence. He stated, “Come in with your experiences, but also be guided by experience.”
