POPE FRANCIS APPOINTS REV. FR. WALLACE NG’ANG’A GICHIHI AUXILIARY BISHOP OF ARCHDIOCESE OF NAIROBI.
Fr. Wallace Ng’ang’a Gichihi was born on 26th March 1973 to his parents Mr. Peter Gachihi Waitiki and Mrs. Lucy Njeri, he is the firstborn in a family of seven.
Fr. Wallace was ordained on 21st May 2005. His home parish is Christ the King Karinga parish.
Fr. Wallace attended St. Mary’s Molo Seminary in 1996 for his spiritual Year. Later from 1997 till 1998, he did his philosophical studies at St. Augustine Major Seminary Mabanga. From 1999 to 2003 he did his theological studies at St. Matia Mulumba Major Seminary. He has a Masters in Pastoral theology from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. (C.U.E.A)
He was ordained a deacon on 15th May 2004. On 21st May 2005, he was ordained a priest. He has worked in various parishes including, St. John the Evangelist parish Githiga where he served as a deacon, and later at Sts. Peter and Paul Kiambu. After his Priestly Ordination, he was appointed as the assistant Father-in-Charge at the same Parish. He has also worked at St. Peter the Apostle Kikuyu Parish as the Father in Charge and later went on to pursue his studies at the C.U.E.A. While studying, he was also working at Regina Caeli Parish, Karen as an assistant Parish Priest. At that time he was also appointed as the Pastoral Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, a position he holds to this date. He was later appointed to work at Christ the King Embakasi as a Parish Priest. Currently, he is the Fr. In Charge at Queen of Apostles Parish, Ruaraka.
He is the first Pastoral Coordinator in the Archdiocese of Nairobi appointed on 11th November 2011 by the Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi, John Cardinal Njue.
