PMC ANIMATORS URGED TO SPREAD HOPE TO CHILDREN IN THE JUBILEE YEAR 2025
Pontifical Missionary Children (PMC) Animators have been called to reflect on their critical role in guiding and nurturing children under their care. This message was emphasized during the PMC Animators’ annual Mass, held at Queen of Apostles Parish, Ruaraka.
His Grace, Archbishop Philip Anyolo, the main celebrant, expressed gratitude to the animators for their selfless service to the Church, particularly in leading children closer to Christ. He underscored the importance of teaching children to pray and fostering a closer relationship with God, especially during the Jubilee Year of Prayer.
Fr. Ignatius Njue, the PMC director, spoke on the importance of transparency in the animators’ roles. He highlighted key values such as understanding, equality, creativity, and passion. He urged the animators to be sensitive to children’s needs, treat them equally, and approach their tasks with creativity and enthusiasm. According to Fr. Njue, passion and a genuine interest in children’s well-being are essential qualities for being an effective child animator.
Fr. James Karanja, PMC Animators Chaplain, Thika deanery, delivered the homily, reflecting on the 2025 Jubilee theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.” He encouraged animators to open their hearts to God and the Church, particularly in spreading hope to children. Acknowledging the challenges children face today, he urged the animators to embrace all children without discrimination, ensuring that each child feels valued and loved.
The event also stressed the importance of safeguarding children under the Child Protection Act, particularly in light of growing concerns about the infringement of minors’ rights and data privacy. The animators were reminded of their responsibility to protect and advocate for the well-being of the children they serve.
The annual Mass serves as a moment of renewal for animators across the Archdiocese, reinforcing their vital role in faith formation. It is a time to recommit to protecting children and shaping their character according to Christ’s teachings.
Additionally, Fr. Francis Njoroge was announced as the newly appointed assistant PMC Director.
