ARCHDIOCESE OF NAIROBI COMMEMORATES WORLD DAY OF THE SICK
The Medical Office of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, in collaboration with healthcare practitioners within the Archdiocese, marked the World Day of the Sick in a solemn celebration led by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, the Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi. The event took place at the Holy Family Minor Basilica and was attended by priests and medical professionals from various hospitals affiliated with the Archdiocese, both as collaborators and proprietors.
During the celebration, Rev. Fr. James Kinuthia, the Archdiocesan Pastoral Coordinator, delivered a homily emphasizing the importance of keeping the light of hope alive within healthcare institutions and for all those in need of healing, whether physically or spiritually.
“This Jubilee Year of Prayer is a call to hold on to faith and hope, even in moments of suffering, trusting that pain, too, shall come to an end,” he stated. “With prayer and hope, healing is possible. We are all unwell in one way or another; physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Let us pray for one another with love and compassion.”
He further encouraged the faithful to be witnesses of God’s goodness, sharing their testimonies of healing and grace with others. “May all who are sick find comfort, and may those who have received healing become beacons of hope for others. Let us remain pilgrims of hope, never losing sight of God’s love and mercy,” he concluded.
