MARY HELP OF THE SICK MISSION HOSPITAL UNVEILS MOTHER AND CHILD CENTER DURING 60TH ANNIVERSARY
Mary Help of the Sick Mission Hospital in Thika, a health facility owned by the Archdiocese of Nairobi, marked its 60th anniversary with the official opening of a new Mother and Child Center. The celebration was led by Archbishop Philip Anyolo, who also presided over the Mass.
In the homily, Archbishop Anyolo encouraged those present by reminding them of their role during this Jubilee Year of Hope. He said, “You are pilgrims of hope. Just as Mary brought hope to the world through her ‘yes’ to God, this new center brings hope to mothers and children. Hospitals are where life begins.”
Addressing the current challenges in Kenya’s health sector, particularly those surrounding the newly implemented Social Health Authority (SHA), the Archbishop urged resilience and unity. “Work together, even amid challenges. Find ways to care for the sick regardless of issues with the SHA. Illness cannot wait because a sick society is a sick nation. Even in adversity, remain focused on those who need you. Keep your eyes on the world. Heal the world through your actions. This hospital is part of that mission to ensure the world has a future,” he said.
He urged health workers and the wider community to stay focused on their mission. “Keep helping those who are suffering. Look beyond the present struggles. This hospital is part of a bigger purpose to bring healing and hope to the world.”
