ARCHBISHOP ANYOLO URGES FAITHFUL TO EMBRACE CHRIST’S LOVE DURING PALM SUNDAY CELEBRATION
Archbishop Philip Anyolo has called on Christians to reflect on Christ’s enduring love and sacrifice, reminding them of His suffering for the salvation of humanity. The Archbishop delivered this message during Palm Sunday celebrations at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Ndumberi, an outstation of All Saints Parish, Riara.
The celebration, which marks the beginning of Holy Week, drew a large congregation across the country and beyond as the faithful commemorated Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
“His love continues to make Him our friend,” Archbishop Anyolo said. “We must continue to learn from Him, especially during this Jubilee Year of Prayer. As pilgrims of hope, we are encouraged to walk in hope, take care of one another, and remain steadfast in the faith of the Church. Palm Sunday is a powerful reflection of that faith.”
During his visit, the Archbishop also recognized the community’s efforts to build a rectory for a priest — an important step toward the outstation church becoming a fully-fledged parish and breaking away from All Saints Parish, Riara. The faithful had just held their first harambee to support the project.
“In the spirit of Palm Sunday, let us build a Church that reflects God’s vision and direction,” he urged. “Love and support your priests, for this is how the Church grows—not only in spirit but in development as well.”
He further called on the faithful to remain devoted to God, noting that their faithfulness ensures that Christ’s sacrifice is not in vain. “Be faithful to God so that His works do not go to waste. Through faith, we find redemption even in our struggles and sins,” he said.
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the most sacred week in the Christian calendar, leading up to Easter Sunday, when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
