SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF BISHOP DAVID KAMAU’S EPISCOPACY
The Christian faithful and the clergy from the Archdiocese of Nairobi came together in a solemn Eucharistic celebration to mark the 25th Episcopal Anniversary of Bishop David Kamau held at Queen of Apostoles parish, Ruaraka.
Presiding over the Mass, His Grace, Philip Anyolo praised Bishop Kamau’s long-standing service, describing him as a “Gamaliel” — a man of wisdom, balance, and profound understanding of the Archdiocese. “He knows the priests, religious men and women, and the laity by heart. He has journeyed with them in faith, standing by them whenever called upon,” he said.
Bishop Kamau’s episcopal ministry has spanned partnerships with key Church leaders, having served alongside Cardinal Maurice Otunga, Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’ Nzeki, Cardinal, John Njue (who was also his professor in seminary), and now the current Archbishop of Nairobi, His Grace Philip Anyolo. His contribution to nurturing vocations and supporting their families remains a hallmark of his pastoral mission.
Known for his measured approach to administration and his readiness to advise the Archdiocese, Bishop Kamau has been called a living source of institutional memory, one who carries the data of the Archdiocese not as a critic, but as a seasoned shepherd.
Speaking during the celebrations, Archbishop Anyolo reflected on Bishop Kamau’s life of service: “His is a ministry molded in silence, strengthened by the Spirit, and guided at every stage by God’s providence. His journey reminds us that good shepherds walk with their people, embracing the cross with Christ-like dedication.”
In his own words, Bishop Kamau acknowledged his journey as one guided by grace: “I am what I am by the grace of God. Everything I have is not by personal merit but by abundant mercy,” he said, echoing 1 Corinthians 10 and Philippians 1:3-4.
The event stood as a celebration of faithful service and a call to all Christians to grow deeper in knowing God, echoing the sentiment that “good news cannot be suppressed.
