OVER 4,000 BOYS ATTEND ANNUAL BEACON BOYS MASS.
More than 4,000 boys gathered at St. Mary’s Msongari Grounds for the annual Beacon Boys Mass, presided over by Bishop David Kamau.
In the homily, Bishop Kamau urged parishes across the Archdiocese of Nairobi to embrace the Beacon Boys Program, describing it as a vital tool in nurturing responsible and faith-centered young men. He called on the boys to take responsibility in their daily lives and to grow in discipline, service, and prayer.
The Beacon Boys Program, run by Caritas Nairobi through its Gender and Youth Empowerment department, was launched in 2017 and now reaches over 7,000 boys in more than 70 parishes across all deaneries. It is guided by the Catholic Men’s Association (CMA) and supported by over 350 trained mentors.
This year marked the second edition of the annual celebration, which recognizes the program’s impact in fostering positive masculinity. The event organizers highlighted notable achievements since the program kicked off, including improved discipline among boys, increased participation at home and in church, and a deeper prayer life.
Parents were encouraged to take an active role in supporting the initiative, which combines mentorship, life-skills training, and community integration to empower the boy child.
“The Beacon Boys Program is about building the men of tomorrow by grounding them in faith, values, and responsibility,” said Bishop Kamau.
The day was filled with joy as the boys competed in fun-filled games and tournaments as their interacted among themselves and with their mentors.
