BISHOP SIMON PETER KAMOMOE OFFICIALLY WELCOMED AS AUXILIARY BISHOP OF WOTE DIOCESE
Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe, formerly the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, was officially welcomed to the Diocese of Wote as Auxiliary Bishop, where he will assist Bishop Paul Kariuki. This Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Archbishop Philip Anyolo. The it was concelebrated by Archbishops Anthony Muheria, Martin Kivuva, and attended by numerous Bishops, priests, religious, and the lay faithful.
In the homily, Bishop Norman King’oo of Machakos Diocese, who has also been serving Wote diocese in the capacity of Apostolic Administrator reminded Bishop Kamomoe of his call to shepherd God’s people. He encouraged him to collaborate closely with Bishop Paul Kariuki in advancing the mission of evangelization.
“The Holy Spirit is with you. This is your home; be with us even in this slightly different environment from the city. These Christians give the very best to the Church,” Bishop King’oo said.
He further urged Bishop Kamomoe to embrace the challenges of ministry with humility, faith, and courage, noting that the journey of discipleship is demanding but filled with grace. “Pilgrimage is difficult. Be ready as the world changes, so must we. Each of us has gifts, and God gives us charisms in accordance with our capabilities. There is always something we can give to further the work of evangelization,” he emphasized.
Bishop Kamomoe was first appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi on February 13, 2024, and ordained on April 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Msongari Grounds. On July 5, 2025, Pope Leo appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Wote Diocese, where he now begins his new pastoral mission among the people of God. He will be assisting Bishop Kariuki in Pastoral care to the Christians as he continues to recuperate and handle the Administration of the diocese.
The faithful of Wote Diocese are encouraged to continue praying for their bishops as they serve the Church and advance the greater mission of Christ.
