ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PARISH, MWIHOKO, CELEBRATES THIRD PARISH FAMILY DAY
St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mwihoko, marked its third Parish Family Day with jubilation and gratitude as seven couples were joined in Holy Matrimony during a colorful celebration presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Philip Anyolo.
In the homily, Archbishop Anyolo encouraged the faithful to be people of hope, saying, “Hope is the last breath you give to God; without hope, you cannot live charitably.” Addressing the newlyweds, he reminded them of the sacredness of the marital bond, noting that “Marriage is a sacrament that redeems the family, society, and community. Do not be afraid of marriage, it works with God at the center of it”

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Mahoussi Semido, expressed his joy and appreciation for the milestones the parish has achieved since its inception. He highlighted the establishment of the Parish Counseling Center in 2024, which has become a beacon of hope not only for the Mwihoko community but also for people beyond the Catholic faith.
Fr. Mahoussi also announced the creation of a new outstation, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, located in Lower Finance. Reflecting on the day’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope in Families with Special Needs People,” he emphasized the parish’s mission to care for and include persons with special needs in every aspect of Church life.
“Like Lazarus, they are at our doorstep and deserve not to be ignored nor hidden,” Fr. Mahoussi said, urging the Christian community to extend compassion, solidarity, and support to brothers and sisters facing physical and mental challenges.
