ST. PETER’S PARISH MARKS FAMILY DAY
Christians of St. Peter’s Ruai Parish have been urged to look up to the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph as a model for Christian homes during the parish Family Day celebration, which also saw 59 Catholic Women Association members and 29 Catholic Men Association members commissioned.
Holy Mass was led by Bishop David Kamau, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, who joined parishioners in thanksgiving for the gift of family and the continued growth of the parish community.
In the homily, the Bishop emphasized the important role of the family in protecting life and guiding children in the ways of God. He encouraged Christians to remain hopeful for the future, noting that the Holy Spirit continues to live and work within them.
He further called on the faithful to seek the power of God in order to understand what truly matters in life. When families remain open to God, they are better able to discover their purpose and live with meaning.
The commissioning of the new CWA members was one of the key moments of the celebration. It marked their formal commitment to serve the Church, strengthen Christian families and take part more actively in the mission of the parish.
The celebration was also a milestone for the parish as it marked 13 years since its establishment. For the faithful, the day was not only a moment to celebrate family of faith, but also an opportunity to give thanks for the journey the parish has made over the years.
The celebration also saw the previous church leaders recognized and awarded certificates in appreciation of their dedicated service and contribution to the growth of the parish community.
