ST. PETER THE APOSTLE PARISH KIKUYU MARKS 20 YEARS ANNIVERSARY
More than 200 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation as St. Peter the Apostle Parish, Kikuyu, marked its 20th anniversary in a celebration of thanksgiving for the growth in faith.
Marked together with the Parish Family Day, the celebration brought together parishioners, priests who have served in the parish, invited guests and well-wishers in thanksgiving for two decades of God’s faithfulness. The Mass was presided over by Bishop Obed Karobia, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
In the homily, Bishop Karobia congratulated the parishioners for faithfully nurturing the parish since its inception. He reminded them that God does not call the perfect, but ordinary people who are willing to serve Him despite their struggles and limitations.
He emphasized that prayer remains the foundation of every strong Christian community, urging the faithful to remain steadfast in their relationship with God and to continue building the parish in unity and faith.

Addressing the confirmation candidates, Bishop Karobia reminded them that through the Sacrament of Confirmation, they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit to strengthen them in Christian living and to send them out as courageous witnesses of Christ.
He encouraged the candidates to become fully committed Christians and reminded parents and sponsors that their responsibility of accompanying the young people in faith does not end with the celebration of the sacrament.
The celebration also saw more than 30 proclaimers commissioned and blessed to serve the parish, marking another important step in strengthening the liturgical life of the community.

Bishop Wallace Ng’ang’a, Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, who later joined the days celebrations expressed his joy at witnessing the growth of St. Peter the Apostle Parish. Having played a key role in the establishment of the parish, Bishop Wallace noted with gratitude the vibrant faith community that has taken root over the past 20 years.
