NEW CMA LEADERS EXHORTED TO SERVE FAITHFULLY
The Catholic Men Association (CMA) in the Archdiocese of Nairobi has ushered in a new team of leaders with a call to embrace servant leadership, strengthen families and faithfully serve both the Church and society.
The new leaders took their oath of office during the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at St. Joseph Technical Institute, Kamulu, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the CMA.
The AGM also saw Fr. Paul Ng’ang’a officially assume office as the new Archdiocesan CMA Chaplain, taking over from Fr. Bernard Ndichu, who has been appointed Archdiocesan Pastoral Coordinator.
In the homily, Fr. Paul challenged CMA members to make love the foundation of their Christian vocation, describing it as the “key” to eternal life.
“Love is expressed quietly in daily service,” he emphasized, urging the men not to seek recognition for their acts of goodness but to serve faithfully in their homes, parishes and communities.
This day also marked the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in which the chaplain noted that Mary’s life provides an example of humility, faithfulness and commitment to God’s call a call that each Christian should embrace.
As the newly elected leaders took their oath, the cleric urged them to remain faithful to the responsibilities entrusted to them, noting that taking an oath of office is a promise to serve.
“The ‘yes’ of the Blessed Virgin Mary helped her to move from grace to service, from service to holiness and from holiness to eternal glory,” he said, drawing a parallel with the commitment made by the new CMA leaders.
In his address the new chaplain acknowledged the contribution of his predecessors and other clergy who have served the Association.
“We cannot drink the water from the well and forget those who sank the well,” Fr. Ng’ang’a said, underscoring the importance of building on the foundation laid by previous leaders.
During the meeting the outgoing leaders were recognized for their contribution in making the Association a success and remain united. To the new leadership, he said it comes at a time when the Association needs to operationalize and strengthen the good work already undertaken especially on their Kamulu project, relying not only on human ability but also on God’s grace.
“The task before us is great, but so is the opportunity,” he said, calling on CMA members to be men who lead by example, serve with humility, remain helpful and hopeful, speak truthfully and love sacrificially.
He called for prayers, cooperation, teamwork and friendship as he begins his service, promising to listen, encourage and remind members of God’s presence during difficult moments.
