TING’ANG’A PARISH RAISES SUPPORT FOR HOSPITAL EXPANSION DURING FAMILY DAY
Christians of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Ting’ang’a Parish have been called upon to strengthen their family unity and support community healthcare as the parish raised funds to expand its dispensary into a Mission Hospital.
This call was made by Auxiliary Bishop of Nairobi, Rt. Rev. Obed Karobia during the parish Family Day, held under the theme, “Walking in the Footsteps of St. Francis for Quality Healthcare.” The event brought together parishioners and well-wishers to support the expansion project aimed at improving access to healthcare in Ting’ang’a, Kiambu County, and neighboring communities.
Reflecting on the Gospel account of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth, Bishop Karobia urged Christians to respond to family and community challenges through faith, prayer and practical action.
He challenged families to address conflicts, harmful alcohol consumption and other difficulties that undermine unity especially in families, noting that prayer should be accompanied by deliberate efforts to improve relationships and support one another.
His Lordship also encouraged parishioners to care for vulnerable members of the community.
“A parish should function as one family whose members share responsibility for one another’s wellbeing. Contributing towards this initiative benefits your future generations,” he said.
As a parish dispensary, it was established by the Comboni Sisters in 1974 and has since been managed by different religious congregations. The Visitation Daughters of Mary have overseen its operations since 2021, working alongside medical personnel to provide essential healthcare services.
The facility currently offers outpatient consultations, maternal and child health services, laboratory services, HIV care and management of chronic illnesses. However, the absence of maternity and inpatient facilities has forced expectant mothers and patients requiring admission to seek treatment elsewhere, creating additional challenges in accessing timely care.
The planned expansion seeks to address these gaps by establishing a hospital with enhanced outpatient services, a maternity wing, operating theatres, radiology services, inpatient wards and intensive care facilities.
A major milestone was reached on September 18, 2025, when His Grace, Most. Rev. Philip Anyolo, metropolitan archbishop of nairobi presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.
Approximately KSh49 million was secured through support from the Italian Episcopal Conference towards construction. The total estimated construction cost stands at KSh70 million, leaving an additional funding requirement to complete the building, equip the facility and prepare it for operation.
According to the project history presented during the celebration, structural works on the ground and first floors have been completed, marking significant progress towards the hospital’s establishment.

This dispensary operates within the vicinity of Our lady of the Rosary Parish which has two outstations; Divine Mercy- Thara and St. John the Baptist Ngaita. The parish is under the care of Father Dominic Mwangi the father in charge, assisted by Father Francis Ruiru.
